STCW Lifeboat Coxswain Basic Course (A-VI / 2-1)
Objective
After completing the course, the course participants should:
-Take command of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after deployment
-Operate the engine on the survival craft
-Take responsibility for survivors and survival craft after the ship has left
-Use the devices to specify their positioning, including communications and signaling equipment , lighting and smoke signals
-Give first aid to survivors

Course content
The course contains mandatory minimum requirements for competencies for survival crafts , rescue boats other than fast rescue boats in accordance with STCW Code Table A-VI / 2-1.
-Construction and equipment of survival crafts and rescue boats and each device on board these
-Specific characteristics of and devices for survival craft and rescue boats
-Different types of facilities for the launching of survival craft and rescue boats

Basic safety training for ships (A-VI / 1-1,1-2,1-3,1-4)
