STCW Basic Safety Training (STCW-2010: A-V1/1-1 to 1-4)
Objective
Participants who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate the required minimum standard of competence set out in STCW'95. After completing the course the students should have expertise in:
-Survival at sea by events which the ship must be evacuated
-Minimising the risk of fire, maintaining readiness and combat and extinguish fires
-Act fast by accident
-Follow emergency procedures
-Prevent pollution
-Follow safe work practices
-Understand orders and be understood
Target group
Seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board a ship in ship operations, as part of the ship's crew, and wh are assigned duties with respect to safety or the prevention of pollution during ship operation.
Course content
The course contains four sections:
-Personal survival techniques (Table A-VI/1-1)
-Preventive fire protection and fire fighting (Table A-VI/1-2)
-Basic First Aid (Table A-VI/1-3)
-Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (Table A-VI/1-4)
